Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate what you are thankful for while being surrounded by those you love. Often times as teenagers, it may be difficult to celebrate the holiday with both your friends and family. Hosting a Friendsgiving allows you to spend some valuable time with some of your closest friends while also allowing you to celebrate the holiday later with your family. Here are some ways you can ensure you plan a fun and memorable Friendsgiving:

Cook with friends and/or arrange a potluck

Friendsgiving calls for a potluck! Have your friends volunteer to bring tasty treats and side dishes or have some friends come over early to help cook the main dish together. Preparing the main dish with your friends can be a memorable and entertaining experience. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to bring something for everyone depending on their dietary restrictions or allergies.

Decorate your table and house

Although a Friendsgiving does not necessarily have to be a formal event, incorporating decorations can improve the overall setting of the event. Consider buying or making a centerpiece for your table. You can even add in some fall-scented candles!

Create a playlist

What is a social gathering without the perfect playlist? Collaborate with friends and create a playlist with songs you all enjoy playing while you are hanging out.

Watch a movie

It’s never a bad time to watch Netflix! If your friends are planning on staying for a while, consider watching a movie from together as a way to pass time.

Play a game

Whether it be a video game, board game, or card game, it is always fun to partake in an activity with your friends. After dinner, or while the main course is cooking, entertain your guests with some sort of game.

Have Fun

Most importantly, remember to have fun and make the evening a night to remember. You may even consider making Friendsgiving a yearly tradition for your friend group.
